Travel ID (REAL ID)
REAL ID (Arizona Travel ID)
Arizona’s REAL ID-compliant credential is called the Travel ID. While optional, it is strongly recommended for anyone who plans to fly domestically or access certain federal facilities. You can begin your application online, but must complete the process in person.
Why It Matters
Beginning May 7, 2025, a standard Arizona driver license will no longer be accepted at TSA checkpoints for domestic air travel.
You will need one of the following:
- An Arizona Travel ID (REAL ID)
- A valid U.S. passport or other federally approved identification
The Travel ID is easily recognized by a gold star in the upper-right corner of the card.
Key Benefits
- Allows domestic air travel without a passport
- Accepted for entry into federal and military facilities
- Provides a convenient, single form of compliant identification
